What our residents say about Dolhendre

[us_testimonial author=”Phil & Judith” company=””]Dolhendre is just perfect. Beautiful, quiet location in natural countryside, woodlands, fantastic views and walks on the doorstep, the River Lliw running by, the sounds and sights of so many birds when we look out each morning, these are just a few of the reasons why we love it. We always look forward to leaving our busy working lives behind to de-stress at our little hideaway, even when it rains! Buying our holiday home at Dolhendre was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Being new to park homes we needed a lot of “hand holding”. The owners Cheryl and Andrew are a great couple who couldn’t do enough to help us with our purchase and settling in. They are always available to advise and sort out any problems we have and work tirelessly and passionately on the upkeep of the Park.[/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”Chris & Maureen” company=””]Dolhendre is an amazingly peaceful spot surrounded by mountains, trees, fields, the river Lliw – not to mention birds, animals and flowers – everything we had dreamed of. If you want to escape from the stress and bustle of life for a while then look no further. Bala and Dolgellau are not far for local shops and banks or the gym and swimming pool at Bala Leisure centre which looks very appealing.[/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”Les Baggs ” company=””]I have already done a testimonial a few years ago, and my 31 year association with Dolhendre probably speaks volumes in itself coupled with the fact that my children also own a caravan at Dolhendre too. But here goes:

Best Thing about Dolhendre:
Tranquility, river and walks

Best thing about owning a static caravan:
Friendship of others on the site particularly because of no sub letting there is a lovely community feel around the park. It is an advantage to be able to leave the van set up throughout the year eg minimum packing and carting stuff back and forth, getting to know the natives by this I mean shop owners and staff, publicans and restauranteurs. Also, with Dolhendre having a 12 month licence it is nice to have the opportunity to visit out of season too if I need a Dolhendre fix. I always look forward to coming back to Dolhendre – my second home.

Vivid and happy memories:
Exceedingly difficult as there are too many but here are a few: Before electrics and plumbing kids having midnight walks to the loo. As we drove around the lake on arrival after a 3 hour drive our kids used to shout there’s our mountain and now my grandchildren lay claim to it. Ancestry is great = obvious by the number of families who are still coming to Dolhendre.

Early years multiple families meeting down by the river bank for picnics, swimming in the river after having built a dam to allow paddling and swimming and enjoying an evening tipple or two. Latterly since Cheryl and Andrew’s ownership the annual family day is a lovely social occasion and harks back to the early days.

Another very personal statement is that after many years at Dolhendre with my husband Joe after he died I would not contemplate giving up the happiness we shared there. So I am one of several single ladies of a certain age who own caravans at Dolhendre which must demonstrate vividly the friendly family atmosphere which prevails at Dolhendre which enabled me to return and feel so at home here on my own after his death. I have made so many friends who are incredibly supportive and with whom I keep in contact out of season.[/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”Wendy Crutchley” company=””]We met Cheryl and Andrew last year when we were looking to buy our caravan, they were most welcoming and friendly. As we drove around the park, we knew that this was the place we wanted for our holiday home from home to be, and we were not disappointed. We love the tranquillity, the beautiful scenery, the wildlife, the ruggedness and the sound of the bubbling river. We have also made some lovely friends. It’s really great to get away and enjoy the walks etc. or just relax. [/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”John & Liz Thomas” company=””]My wife and I were considering swapping our touring caravan for a static, and went to Dolhendre Caravan Park initially because a colleague of hers spoke so highly of Dolhendre and its owners that we were keen to investigate it for ourselves.

We were shown two caravans, the one we had initially been interested it and another more luxurious caravan. We ended up making an offer on the other more luxurious one. Cheryl one of the owners was so concerned that we didn’t act in haste that she was going out of her way to dissuade us from making any rash decisions that we might regret. We both took to her and her aversion to hard sell techniques was both refreshing and reassuring in contrast to most modern day businesses. We felt that our happiness was paramount and more important to Cheryl than the caravan sale itself.

We took the plunge and are now happily ensconced in a lovely homely caravan, amongst welcoming fellow caravaners. Cheryl is still attentive and keen to ensure we are not in any way disappointed. In fact we think of Cheryl and Andrew more as friends than the owners of Dolhendre. We in turn have no regrets at having joined the caravan fraternity and now spend our weeks at home looking forward to the next visit to our little bolthole amongst the glorious Welsh hills and the sound of the river Lliw soothing away the stresses of a busy life.[/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”Janet & Colin Fagan” company=””]Buying a caravan at Dolhendre is the best move we ever made, my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner!  It’s a beautiful site in a secluded peaceful setting, perfect for nature lovers, walkers or anyone just wanting somewhere to escape the stress of modern day life. It has the best of both worlds being situated in the stunning countryside whilst being only 30 minutes drive away from several stunning beaches.  The location is within easy driving distance to many holiday towns and attractions and therefore there is always plenty to do and see.  As the park being fairly small and having  a policy of no subletting, it has a real community atmosphere and has several generations of some families, this, of course, is enhanced by the friendliness of the owners, Cheryl and Andrew, who are sociable, very helpful and fully committed to making the park the best it can be at all times for the benefit of the residents.  We fell in love with Dolhendre the moment we walked through the gate and are looking forward to spending many more years here.[/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”David & Sue Simpson” company=””]We chose Dolhendre to site our caravan, because it looked to provide the perfect bolt hole to give us tranquil surroundings we required, and we weren’t disappointed. The park gives us the peace and quiet in stunning surroundings adjacent to the woods, ideal walking straight out of the park, and amazing dark skies. This is our first static caravan after touring for many years, but the static provides the perfect escape without the time  taken to set up the tourer.

We have no regrets choosing Dolhendre, in fact wish we’d done it sooner![/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”Jane Williams” company=””]For us the best thing about Dolhendre is the stunning beauty, peace and tranquility

The best thing about owning a static caravan is it is a home from home!

My vivid and happy memory of Dolhendre was when we paid the money and owned the caravan!

It is really difficult as Dolhendre is beyond words![/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”Liz” company=””]My first year at Dolhendre and what a joy it is being. The park is beautiful and peaceful, with superb countryside and walking all around. Andrew and Cheryl have been kindness itself, helping me to settle in and dealing with every concern and query. A new adventure for me – its the best thing I’ve done in years![/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”N. Hegarty” company=””]Earlier this year we decided that we wanted to find somewhere to escape the rat race where we could relax and recharge. Buying a caravan seemed the perfect option but as we were new to caravanning we didn’t have a clue where to start. After spending hours trawling different sites on the internet we came across Dolhendre and discovered there was a pitch available on the site. We decided to go and have a look and the minute we stepped foot on the site we fell in love with it. It was peaceful, tranquil and stunning. Cheryl the site owner showed us round and it was evident that she was passionate about the site as well as friendly and extremely welcoming. The site was everything we had hoped for quiet, small but still had that friendly, family feel. Our hearts were set on Dolhendre and we set about finding a caravan. Throughout the whole process Cheryl and Andrew were a great help giving us advice, support and guidance. We enjoyed our first summer at Dolhendre waking up every morning to stunning views and soon became part of the Dolhendre family. Everyone on site is so friendly and Cheryl and Andrew have made sure we feel welcome. They go out of their way to ensure everything is perfect at Dolhendre and nothing is too much trouble for them. For us Dolhendre is a safe, tranquil place that the whole family can enjoy and we look forward to many happy years there. [/us_testimonial]
[us_testimonial author=”Sarah Young” company=””]What in your opinion is the best thing about Dolhendre Caravan Park?
What I love best about Dolhendre is its beautiful surroundings with the river, mountains and the woodlands.  Just the smell of the trees when I arrive starts the relaxation process.  Combine that with the lovely residents and you have a perfect hideaway.

What in your opinion is the best thing about owning a static caravan?
With two young(ish) children the best thing is having somewhere to holiday which we know has everything we need there.  So we can pack a suitcase and go – knowing that we will be comfortable and have our own space whenever we want.

Do you have a particularly vivid and happy memory of Dolhendre?
One was an Easter egg hunt in the snow on a beautiful sunny Easter Sunday – hiding chicks in the mini drifts around daffodil flowers.

Another is from when I was young at Dolhendre when the adults and children were all playing in the river and rowing up and down in a dinghy. One of the adults decided to climb into the dinghy from one of the rocks – cue the dingy moving away and a huge splash as the adult landed fully clothed in the river.

All in all I think the site is an amazing place to have a caravan providing the perfect mix of peace and quiet and the space for the children to run around and be children – playing on the park, in the river and in the woods.[/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”Angela McClements” company=””]What in your opinion is the best thing about Dolhendre Caravan Park?
Love the peaceful, pleasant & safe locality – small & friendly family caravan park on the edge of Snowdonia National Park and not  far from the coast. Lucky to have Cheryl & Andrew, our park proprietors, who are so friendly & helpful.

What in your opinion is the best thing about owning a static caravan?
We lead very busy lives so it’s great to unwind – it’s our second home!

Do you have a particularly vivid and happy memory of Dolhendre?
Excitement of our grandchildren when they first arrive at Dolhendre as new season starts – the annual Easter egg hunt- Bobbi our dog waking us up for that early morning walk – lovely walks up the valley rain or shine.[/us_testimonial]

[us_testimonial author=”The Jackson Family” company=””]Dolhendre is the essence of peace and tranquillity. We came on a wet miserable ‘summers day’ and despite the weather, loved Dolhendre and the surrounding area straight away. Within hours of visiting, we had bought our first ever static caravan. After only six months here we loved it so much that we upgraded to a new caravan on a new pitch and the transition was flawless. We feel like it is our home from home and can’t wait for the weekends to come back. Unfortunately, our children all love Dolhendre and come themselves for holidays, so we have to stay at home. Dolhendre is the perfect place to leave your stresses behind, from the minute you arrive you have to relax and enjoy it all.[/us_testimonial]
